The docs MCP server only searches and reads Hightouch documentation. It doesn’t connect to your Hightouch workspace or take actions in your account. To build audiences, design journeys, and generate emails, ad creatives, and campaign concepts in your workspace from an AI assistant, use the Hightouch MCP instead.

Overview

Hightouch publishes documentation in formats that AI tools can read directly, so they have accurate and current information when answering questions or helping you build integrations. Choose the format that fits how your tool works:

MCP server

For AI tools that support Model Context Protocol (MCP), Hightouch publishes a docs MCP server. Your AI tool searches the docs and reads only the pages it needs to answer your question, instead of loading all of the documentation at once. That means faster answers and lower token usage. The server’s content updates on every docs deployment, so answers reflect the latest docs.

Choose an endpoint

Most people should use the public endpoint. Use the signed-in endpoint if you work with features whose docs require you to sign in, so your AI tool can read those pages too.

Available tools

The server gives your AI tool three tools. Tool names can vary by client, so your tool may show slightly different labels.

Connect your AI tool

The steps below use the public endpoint. To use the signed-in endpoint, replace the URL with https://docs.hightouch.com/authed/mcp.

Free plan accounts can have one custom connector. If you already have one, remove it before you add this one.

Claude Code

Run this from your terminal:
Run claude mcp list to confirm that hightouch-docs shows as connected.

Cursor

Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project:

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

Other clients

Use https://docs.hightouch.com/mcp with Streamable HTTP transport. See your client’s documentation for how to add an MCP server. You can also copy the server URL from any docs page: open the page menu next to the page title and select Copy MCP server URL.

Example prompts

Once you connect, your AI tool searches the docs when you ask about Hightouch. Try prompts like these: Sync configuration
Destinations and sources
Troubleshooting
Customer Studio
To look up the docs and act in your workspace in the same conversation, add both this server and the Hightouch MCP.

Usage limits

Each user can make up to 5,000 requests per hour. If your tool hits the limit, it gets a 429 Too Many Requests error. The limit resets on a rolling hourly window.

Plain-text files

Hightouch publishes plain-text versions of the docs that any AI tool can read without parsing web page markup. Both files are regenerated on every deployment, so they always reflect the latest content. Use these when your tool doesn’t support MCP or when you want to load broad context in a single request. llms.txt is an index of every public page, organized by product area. Use this when you want an AI tool to know what documentation is available. llms-full.txt contains the full text of every public page in a single file. Use this when you want an AI tool to have complete context about Hightouch. To use either file, paste the URL into your AI tool:
